# Get started with ClearPolicy

> Learn how to send your first document acknowledgment request with ClearPolicy in four steps — from adding a document to tracking completion.

This guide walks you through the core ClearPolicy workflow: adding a document, adding a person, sending an acknowledgment request, and checking who has completed it. You can finish your first request in just a few minutes.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create your account and organization">
    Sign up for ClearPolicy and create your organization. Your organization is the shared workspace where your documents, people, and compliance records live. You can invite teammates later from **Settings** > **Team members**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add your first document">
    Go to **Documents** and click **Add Document**. Drop a PDF or Word file, or choose files from your computer. ClearPolicy publishes the upload so you can send requests.

    For Google Drive, OneDrive, writing in ClearPolicy, or a template, click **More options**. If you write in the editor, click **Publish** when the content is ready. Only published revisions can be sent to people.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a person">
    Go to **People** and click **Add Person**. Enter the person's first name, last name, and email address, then save. That's all that's required — the person does not need to create a ClearPolicy account or set a password.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send an acknowledgment request">
    Open the document you published, then click **Send request**. Select the person you just added and click **Send**. ClearPolicy emails the person a personal link to their acknowledgment page — no login required on their end.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Track completion">
    Check **Requests** to see whether the person has opened or completed the request. For a higher-level summary, use the **Dashboard**. For a document-level view, open the document — it opens on the **Compliance** tab — to see exactly who has completed, who is pending, and who has not opened the request yet.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  People never need a team member account. Each person receives a unique personal email link and can type their name to sign. If they lose the email later, they can open the [signing portal](/guides/signer-portal) with a one-time code sent to the same address.
</Note>

<Tip>
  If you need to send the same document to many people at once, organize your people into a **group** first. You can then assign an entire group to a document and send all requests in a single action.
